Cidadania e Desenvolvimento

Citizenship and Development (CD) is a cross-curricular school subject, which aims to strengthen the relationship between each student and the world, creating a strong awareness and developing knowledge about culture, religion, historical heritage, social and human sciences, environmental health and animal care. CD is a complex subject, essential for all school cycles, highlighting, among the various areas covered, the following:

Human Rights, Gender Equality, Intercultural Education, Sustainable Development, Environmental Education, Health, Sexuality, Media, Conventions and Democratic Participation, Financial Literacy and Consumer Education, Entrepreneurship, the World of Work, Security, Defense and Peace, Animal Welfare and Volunteering.

As an educational institution, CNSB ensures that CD is taught to its greatest extent, promoting various projects and highlighting the interaction between students, social partners and teachers, as a current priority in active citizenship. Students’ voice is as essential as their interests, different realities and family dynamics and backgrounds, which dictate the choice and development of different projects.

In short, CD encourages dialogue and respect for others, while promoting a more tolerant and open-minded community, where the values of equality, social justice and the human rights are topics of great importance.
